Where I'm from we call promoting something or sharing information with others "pubbing". It's short for publicity. Let's not get this twisted. We're not talking about an English pub where you may go in and toss down a few cold ones. We're talking about straight promoting. Whatever the event, topic, hobby or whatever is on our mind at that time. Now the "upolis" in Pub-It-Upolis comes from apolis. Like Minneapolis, Indianapolis but we're using the "u" as in the short phrase "pub-it-up", yet still meaning for the website to be a community like a city. We want visitors and residents i.e. members to be able to get information on services, events, as well as share their knowledge in their areas of interest with others.
So if you're looking to meet new people from near and far, get information on various topics, be entertained, share things that you enjoy, and be a part of a real online/offline community, then this is for you. Many visitors and residents not only socialize and conduct business online, but they also have real world offline relationships. Being in the community is free regardless if you're a visitor or member resident. However being a member allows you to communicate with other members along with many handy online tools.
